The Midland Landlord Accreditation Scheme (MLAS) is there to help raise professional standards in the private rented sector and to give help and support to all decent landlords and agents. It’s a not for profit organisation run by the ‘Homestamp Consortium’ which in turn is made up of various public bodies and local authorities. Sandwell Council is actively involved in Homestamp.
Whether you have a large portfolio or just one or two properties, being a member of MLAS will show people that you are a professionally minded and decent landlord with good quality properties to offer.
Membership allows you to work with different local authorities, can attract discounts to different landlord licensing schemes and means that prospective tenants know you are someone they can trust. Well over 2000 landlords and letting agents have already become accredited with MLAS.
To join MLAS – you must attend a one-day training course. The cost is £150 which also covers your membership for five years. What you will learn on a one-day MLAS course will normally more than repay the cost of attending.
